4″ Emergency Main Drain Line Replacement: Precision and Speed

Responding to an urgent call in the cold and snowing night of January 2024, our experienced team was faced with a critical challenge at Freshouse Foods Ltd, a leading company for food production industry in all over GTA. A severe blockage in the main drain line threatened significant operational disruptions, demanding an immediate and effective solution.

With no regard for the late hour or the cold weather, we quickly dispatch a team of five highly skilled technicians. They were equipped with an advanced tools, including the versatile K-60 snaking machine for cutting through roots and grease, the powerful K9-204 FlexShaft Drain Cleaning Machine for clearing 2 to 4″ pipes, the high-pressure KJ-3100 Water Jetter for tackling large blockages, and the precise SeeSnake® Standard Camera with TruSense® for in-depth inspection.

How we replaced the live clogged drain ?

  • Diagnostic and Action Plan: Upon arrival, our team’s first step was a thorough inspection using the SeeSnake® camera, which encountered a blockage between 90 and 110 feet from the production area. To ensure accuracy in our approach, we used the NaviTrack Scout®, an advanced locating device, to pinpoint the exact location, where the pipe was. This allowed us to strategically plan the excavation and repair process, minimizing disruption and ensuring a targeted solution.
  • Advanced Excavation and Repair: The excavation process required careful planning and execution. After securing the area with caution tape and barricades, we proceeded with precision concrete cutting, avoiding damage to the surrounding infrastructure. The use of Hydro Excavation Trucks enabled us to quickly and safely expose the damaged pipe, where we discovered a significant metal obstruction that had caused the pipe to break and block. This object was resembling materials used in the production steam room, was promptly removed. We then replaced a 3 to 4-foot section of the damaged pipe, reinforcing the system with gravel for added stability and longevity.
  • Restoration and Conclusion: The final step involved detailed backfilling and preparation for concrete restoration. We accurately managed the sand base to ensure a compact and stable foundation for the new concrete, which was poured to match the existing surface seamlessly. Our commitment to leaving no trace of our work was evident in the perfect condition of the area following the project’s completion.
