How to Fix a Soap Dispenser

The tiny soap dispenser you have at home is responsible for a portion of your family’s hygiene and wellness. For some people, the role it plays is far from insignificant.

These are especially useful if you have children in your home because they encourage them to wash their hands frequently and readily. However, things do break occasionally, and the soap dispenser stops working.

Dispensing soap is a fairly dependable device. When you press down on the finger pump, the soap comes out of the spout and the pump retracts for the next cycle. However, things can go wrong inside the pump at times. When a pump stops working, it’s usually due to clogging or damaged spring. Internal seals of a well-used pump may fail, but they cannot be replaced.

However, an emergency plumber is a must and is always a good choice to call them during this kind of issues.

Why does my soap dispenser not work?

A soap dispenser’s finger pump, as well as most bottles of soap, shampoo, or lotion, is a remarkably attractive design. The air is pushed into the soap reservoir by the spring-loaded piston that you press down with your finger. When the piston retracts, a vacuum is created in the reservoir, and soap is sucked into it.

When you push again, some of the soap is forced into a short tube that leads to the spout, while the remainder returns to the reservoir, providing the vacuum needed to bring in additional soap.

How do I fix my soap dispenser pump?

Clean the Pump

Are you ready to fix your bathroom or kitchen sink soap dispenser? Remove the dispenser pump assembly by unscrewing the cap from the soap container. Wipe the dispenser tube clean with a paper towel before submerging the complete system in warm water, including the pump and tubes.

Repair Pump

You may need to conduct a little additional work if your soap dispenser is still not working. If possible, unscrew the pump reservoir from the spout. Pumps that come on shampoo and soap bottles are frequently bonded and do not separate. Remove the spring and separate the reservoir from the spout. Replace the spring with one that is identical.

If the dispenser tube is excessively short or kinked, you can easily replace it. You should be able to pull it free from the reservoir tube. You should be able to find a replacement in the plastic tubing department of a hardware shop. Reassemble the pump and flush it with hot water to rinse it out. Once all clogs have been eliminated, replace it on the soap container.

If none of these fixes your pump, it’s most likely because the internal seals have failed. If that’s the case, don’t bother trying to fix it. Even if you could, getting a new pump is easier and more reliable.

Starting with the simplest issues first may help you repair your soap dispenser quickly and easily. You can save your soap dispenser and get it working again with a little effort.

Soak in water

Soak them in a pan of boiling water for 15 minutes while keeping them totally submerged, while maintaining the straw in place. Submerge the head in water until the mechanism is free to move.
